About Encouraging Words
Encouraging Words is the overflow of my daily ministry and family life in sharing what God is teaching me personally. My goal is to edify my church family and to encourage or equip Christian friends and leaders.
I’m no expert—just a guy who loves the Lord, loves learning, and loves pastoring a healthy church. This blog is where I share how God is growing me in this daily struggle called “the Christian life.”
About the Schmidts
We have been married and in ministry for thirty years. God gives me the privilege to be the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newington, CT where we are fully engaged in advancing the gospel in New England and around the world. I serve Jesus with my wife and best friend, Dana; our three children—Lance, 28 (and his wife Hillarie), Larry, 26 (and his wife Mariah), Haylee, 20; and our four grandchildren, Chad, Charleigh, Augie, and Brady.
A part of my call in ministry is to encourage others through writing, and I would love to know if a book or article has touched your heart. My newest book will be available January 2021 from Moody Publications.
Nearly ten years ago the Lord led me through a battle with cancer—Hodgkins Lymphoma. He did a deep work in our lives through that valley. Encouragement from the cancer journey is shared in the book “Off Script” available at Amazon.com
